Using a Realtor is the best idea. I ALWAYS list my own properties on the MLS for other Realtors to sell. I'm too emotionally involved to sell my own home. Having other Realtors bring their buyers makes my home available to many more buyers than if I advertise it on my own.

On the other hand, ANYONE can sell their own home, including you! But first, here are some questions to help you decide if you're really ready to try to sell your own home:

1. How do you determine the best asking price for your home?
2. How do you select the best lender and loan program for your buyer?
3. Are you comfortable when strangers come directly to your door?
4. What disclosures are required?
5. How can you protect yourself against property defects, now and after the sale is completed?
6. Do you know what to do once you have an offer on your home?
7. Can you put the contract in writing to protect both yourself and your buyers?
